How we work

We take this seriously — because your cat's health is real.

The internet is full of confident cat advice. Very little of it says where it came from. At Purrwise, we've tried to build something different — a place where you can trust what you're reading, and where we're honest about the limits of what we know.

    Where our information comes from

Every piece of content on Purrwise starts with a question: what does the evidence actually say? We draw on peer-reviewed veterinary research, guidance from organisations including the ASPCA, the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), and the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), and input from board-certified veterinary professionals. Where we can, we cite or link directly to our sources — because we want you to be able to check our work, not just take our word for it. Marketing materials, brand claims, and sponsored content are not sources. We don't treat them as such.

When we don't know — we say so

Feline science is still evolving. There are real questions about cat nutrition, behaviour, and health that haven't been settled yet, and we'd rather tell you that than paper over the gaps. You'll see phrases like 'the evidence is mixed' or 'research on this is limited' throughout the site. That's not vagueness — it's honesty. We'd rather leave a question open than give you a confident answer that turns out to be wrong.

    No commercial strings attached

We have no relationships with pet food companies, supplement brands, or product retailers. We don't accept payment for editorial coverage, rankings, or mentions. If that ever changes — for example, if we introduce affiliate links — we'll tell you clearly and upfront, and it won't change what we actually write. Our editorial positions are ours. Full stop.

If something's wrong, we'll fix it

We try hard to get things right, but we're human. If you spot an error, something outdated, or anything that doesn't sit right — please tell us via the contact page. Substantive corrections are made transparently: we update the content and note what changed. We won't quietly delete things and hope nobody notices.

We're not your vet — and we never pretend to be

This is important, and we want to say it plainly: Purrwise is not a veterinary service. Nothing on this site substitutes for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We can offer context, background, and things worth understanding — but if your cat is unwell, please contact your vet. What Purrwise provides is educational. The clinical call always belongs to you and your vet, not us.

Found something that doesn't look right?

We genuinely want to know. If you've spotted an error or have a question about something we've written, please reach out.
