Good information about cats shouldn't be this hard to find.
We built Purrwise because we kept running into the same problem: there's an enormous amount of content about cats on the internet, and very little of it is genuinely trustworthy. Marketing copy wears the clothes of guidance. Social media posts go viral without anyone checking if they're true. Old myths get repeated until they feel like facts. And somewhere in the middle of all this noise, you're just trying to take good care of your cat.
"Your cat can't tell you what's wrong. That's the part that gets us."
Cats are remarkable at hiding discomfort. A cat who is in pain, bored, or being slowly harmed by what they eat will often look perfectly fine — until they don't. By the time something is obvious, it has usually been building for a while. We believe the right information, given clearly, can genuinely change that.
What makes us different
Our principles are the foundation of everything we write.
Independent
We have no relationships with pet food brands, supplement companies, or product retailers. No sponsored posts. No affiliate pressure. What we say is what we actually think.
Evidence-based
We follow the research, cite our sources, and say 'the evidence is limited' when it is. We'd rather leave a question open than give you a confident answer that's wrong.
Made for real cat owners
Not for breeders or vets — for the person who adopted their first cat and feels a bit lost, or who's had a cat for years but still wants to understand them better.
This isn't just a website. It came from something real.

Early morning colony feeding. Around twelve cats in total.
Purrwise started with a humane trap and a group of feral cats that nobody else was looking after. The founder spent several weeks running a local trap-neuter-return effort — early mornings, trap checks, clinic coordination, nursing mothers, kittens that were too young and too wild to socialise. Around twelve cats in total. The learning curve was steep and the information available online was often wrong, vague, or written for an entirely different situation. That gap — between what cat owners actually need to know and what's out there — is what Purrwise was built to close.
And then there's the cat.
He started out under the truck out front — a small, scrappy kitten eating whatever he could find. He kept coming back over the following days, always keeping just enough distance to remain a stranger. And then one afternoon, he walked straight to the front door and started screaming. Not a kitten's tentative mew — a loud, indignant demand. When the door opened, he didn't hesitate. He ran inside and never left.
He has never been outside since. He sleeps with the founder every single night. He is the reason this feels personal — because caring for cats properly is personal. It changes what you read, what you question, and what you feel responsible for getting right.
That's the spirit Purrwise is built on.
You don't need to be an expert. You just care.
Maybe you've had a cat for years but still feel like there's a lot you don't fully understand. Maybe you just adopted your first one and you're overwhelmed by conflicting advice. Maybe something felt off recently and you needed to understand what it meant.
That's who Purrwise is for. People who want to do right by their cat, and just need information they can actually trust — presented clearly, without an agenda.
We're really glad you're here.
Purrwise is still growing. We're adding content, tools, and resources as we go — but the goal stays the same: help you get the information you need, as easily as possible, so you can give your cat the best life you can.
